CANES GET A 5-STAR COMMITMENT
The Canes got a commitment Thursday from Kansas 5-star running back Bryce Brown, a 6-0, 215-pounder with speed and an ability to punish defenders.
The oral commitment is non-binding, and the kid can change his mind 50 times between now and National Signing Day in February of 2009. That's especially true since Brown said he will still take the five visits he is allowed to other colleges.
But with his brother - LB Arthur Brown - already on Miami's campus, it is unlikely Bryce changes his mind. In fact, it is more likely Bryce uses his status as a prep All-American to recruit other star players to Miami.
The Canes, coming off the No. 1 recruiting class in the nation in 2008, are off to a great start for 09 with Brown and QB/safety A.J. Highsmith.
The Canes are still recruiting Miami RB Lamar Miller, who some rate just as highly as Brown. In the Canes' plan, they get get both Brown and Miller and add them to the mix of young studs they already have at RB.
You gotta love the recruiting job the canes are doing under the direction of coordinator Clint Hurtt and head coach Randy Shannon.
Now, of course, they need a big year on the field in 08.
