BAILEY SHOULD BE READY; CANES TO USE 2 QBs
Good news: Canes defensive end Allen Bailey is expected to be ready for the start of the season despite his pectoral injury. The redshirt freshman is headed for a big season if he stays healthy and keeps improving.
Canes Coach Randy Shannon also said recently that he expects to play two quarterbacks this year.
That makes sense. Look for redshirt freshman Robert Marve to get the start, and true rookie Jacory Harris to get some action and be ready when needed. Both are outstanding prospects - as good as any freshmen QBs in the nation.
In other Canes news, the U picked up a committment from a 6-3, 195-pound Georgia cornerback. Since he does not have blazing speed, he might end up at safety.

2 QBs
While Shannon has come out and said that he’s going to play both Marve and Harris, I hope he evaluates them as the season progresses and actually sticks with one if there seems to be a gap between the two players. Although that point may seem obvious to some, there have been several coaches (i.e. Spurrier) who have played 2 QBs no matter what, even if one guy was definitively better than the other. I hope Harris wins out in the end. He’s got a Vince Young-esque style with great passing ability and great vision as a runner. He just needs to put on about 20 pounds of muscle and he’ll be the real deal. Harris is our ticket to another National Championship.

I agree that they should pick one
because one invariably will beat out the other. I think it will be Marve. He’s got a stronger, more accurate arm and should be able to better utilize the vast weapons the Canes are stockpiling at WR and stretch the field. Although Harris’ scrambling ability is a big plus, I think a creative combination of screens, play action, and runs with Cooper/James should keep the pressure off Marve.
