- Yonder Alonso, who was picked 7th overall, had hoped to be picked by the Marlins, who had the 6th pick. Let's see in a few years if the Marlins made the right call passing on the power-hitting Alonso.
- The six Canes drafted in the first 4 rounds is also a school record. That goes with the school record of three first-rounders in one year.
