Canes' basketball clinches 20th win....
Frank Haith and the Miami Hurricanes basketball team clinches their 20th win of the 2008 basketball season, only the tenth 20 win season in school history. With the 95-93 win over UVA at home Saturday, in large part to a career high performance from Jack McClinton, the Canes' need one more win to reach .500 in the ACC and solidify a spot in the big dance. Miami's next two games are: A home game against BC on Wednesday, BC won at home early in ACC play. Miami closes out the season on the road against rival FSU, Miami lost at home against the Seminoles earlier in the season. Miami has won 5 of their last 4, only losing to Clemson on the road. A game in which Miami went down by 21 points and trailed by 17 at the half, but managed to fight back and take the lead late in the 2nd half before running out of steam. According to Joe Lunardi, an ESPN analyst for Men BB, Miami is projected as an 11 seed playing Butler in game one of the NCAA Tournament. The ACC tournament is scheduled for March 13th-16th in Charlotte, NC. The seeding has not been announced yet.

Baseball News:
The Hurricanes Baseball team improved to 5-1 after the 3 game home series against UF this weekend. Miami won the first two games clinching the series before dropping the third and final game after a heartbreaking grand-slam by the Gators in the late innings gave them the 6-2 win. Miami's solid pitching held strong throughout the series along with the hitting to allow the Canes' to improve to 8th in the national rankings.
Football Points:
-Coach Shannon puts the names back on the jerseys, but is withholding the U on the helmest for new players until they "earn it."
-Miami picked up its fourth 2009 recruit this past week in DE Olivier Vernon, he joins 5 star RB Bryce Brown, TE Billy Sanders, and former hurricane Alonzo Highsmith's son AJ who is recruited as a QB, but hopes to play safety.
-Miami has had 4 spring practices under their belt, two in full pads. So far so good is the word from many players. It appears to be a deadlock at QB between Marve and Harris with Cannon Smith still impressing some players. Miami resumes practice this Tuesday, after taking Sunday and Monday off.
