CANES TO HOST McDONALD'S GAME IN 2009
Great news for the Canes basketball program. The annual McDonald's All-Star game, which gathers the 24 highest-ranked high school senior players, will come to Miami on April 1, 2009.
That could give Miami a recruiting edge with those players. At the very least, it will be great for fans to get to know these players before they become famous in college basketball.
As for the Canes' women's team, they signed McDonald's All-American Shenise Johnson, a 5-11 forward. She is the first McDonald's All-American to sign with the Canes' women's team since shooting guard Tamara James came to Coral Gables in 2002. James is now in the WNBA playing for Washington
